In the Health Promotion & Wellness program, you enjoy all the same benefits of being part of the UL Lafayette community, but have the flexibility of online classes—so school can revolve around YOUR life and not the other way around. The curriculum is 100% online with the exception of a three-hour clinical experience and a nine hour internship- all completed in your area!
The online Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) program prepares you to improve the quality of life for individuals and groups in your community as a health educator or community health worker. From working with children struggling with obesity to organizing community fundraisers or being a health policy advocate - the career opportunities are endless. Graduates of the program work to encourage healthy lifestyles and promote wellness through education in the workplace and in communities by:
- Leading the development, planning and implementation of corporate strategies to promote employee or client health and well-being;
- Collecting and analyzing data to identify community needs prior to program development and implementation;
- Evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments.
Students who complete the curriculum graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Health Promotion and Wellness and are eligible to take the national certification exam to become a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
