From Our Students

Busy, working parents; mid-career professionals looking for advancement; students looking to attain their bachelor’s after walking away from school to focus on work, family or both.

Our students are diverse in their stories and backgrounds but all tell us the same thing: UL Lafayette Online made attaining their degrees possible.

Here are some of what graduates and students have said about pursuing their degrees online:

“I needed to finish for myself and my family. I want my son and daughter to strive for a degree.  So, I had to lead by example. With the help on Dr. Gail Bonhomme I found out that I only needed two classes to finish my degree. I jumped on the opportunity. It has been 20 years in the making, but I will soon be a University of Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajun alumnus.”
- Roy Heiken, General Studies Online graduate

“Physically attending school would mean that I would have to cut back on work, which poses a problem as work funds my home, education, and will pay for graduate school, which requires that I relocate for over two years while continuing to maintain a home here... Moodle and UL Lafayette apps have been a tremendous help with keeping up with everything. I can check on assignments, read resources provided by instructors, and turn some assignments in when I am on the go.”
- Zoe Maroulis, Health Promotion & Wellness student

“The autonomy with distance learning was so appealing to me; going at my own pace was great. It allowed me the flexibility to work and still support my family. It allowed me to learn at my leisure and what time was best for me. The balance of family and still furthering my education was wonderful.”
- Elliot Myers, Master of Science in Nursing graduate/Doctor of Nursing Practice candidate

“University College has helped me rebuild my self-esteem, believe in second chances, and has renewed my excitement about my future. I no longer worry about being ‘stuck.’ I am accomplishing something I no longer believed was in the cards for me: graduating from college.”
- Laurie Gaspard, General Studies Online graduate

“I just can't speak enough for the professors in the program at UL; they’re true teachers. Teachers go above and beyond for their students and our professors at UL have done no less… I don’t feel like I’m doing extra work; I just feel like I’m doing more directed work toward making our school better.”
- Sarah Butler, Master of Education, Educational Leadership student
