In coordination with the Graduate School, online Master of Education in Educational Leadership admission requires the following. GRE scores are not required for this program.
  • Valid teaching certificate;
  • Evidence of one year of full-time teaching experience;
  • A 2.75 on a 4.0 scale is expected for all undergraduate work or a 3.0 on the last 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of undergraduate coursework;
  • Reference letters from two colleagues that address items identified in the application form such as commitment to excellence in teaching and learning;
  • Resume;
  • Letter of recommendation from Principal or supervisor authorizing release time and opportunities to perform leadership projects;
  • Letter of support from Superintendent, if applicable, authorizing release time and opportunities to perform leadership projects;
  • Submission of portfolio of leadership experiences and activities;
  • Application letter setting forth vision as school leader;
  • Interview with either district or University admissions committee;
  • Satisfactory completion of teacher induction program or similar program.

Required Application Materials

  • Online Application with application fee ($25);
  • Two copies of official transcripts from all universities attended;
  • Proof of Immunization form (not required if you attended UL Lafayette for undergraduate or advanced coursework.)

Application Deadlines

June 30 for Fall semester.

November 30 for Spring semester.


This program may not be available to all applicants. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and its online programs must be authorized in all states prior to offering those courses or programs to students residing in those states. See if the program is available in your state here.

International students also may not be eligible. According to U.S. immigration regulations, F-1 students cannot pursue online degrees; international students in other visa categories (i.e., H-4, L2) are exempt from this restriction. Learn more here.
